Alaska Here We Come!!!

Red-legged Kittiwake In two days I’m going to Alaska with five of my students for a science research expedition through the organization Earthwatch.  We’ll be living in tents for two weeks around Shoup Bay, a part of Prince William Sound.  Seabirds, primarily black-legged kittiwakes, are the focus of our research.

I’m so incredibly excited!  While I’ve been on a similar kind of research project before (see ReFERII project), this will be my first time with students.  When we get back my students will write about their experience on this blog and we’ll post pictures and video as well on my class website.

Wish us luck!!!
