It seems to me that we have been talking mostly about the things that are wrong with our world and it’s kind of depressing. I found a video that has pictures of beautiful scenes that look practically untouched. Even though it seems like we have destroyed everything, there is still plenty to save. :)

The more we focus our attention on the wonders and the realities of the universe about us, the less taste we shall have for destruction. - Rachel Carson

What did you think of the video?

What did you think about Rachel Carson’s phrase?

I LOVED the video Danielle!! it showed the wonders that the earth still holds! I really like te arial shot of the waterfall and the rainbow, it was gorgeous! and you’re right there are things that are still out there to be saved. We just need to realize that even though the human race has done some horrible things to the planet, there is plenty left to save! Awesome post Dani!!

I thought that video was amazing. The pictures of those beautiful places put me in better spirits, and it also reminded me even more of this beautiful world God created. He was so smart!! It is all so pretty! i think that Rachel Carson is absolutely right. We are so obsessed with violence and destruction, we hardly have time to focus on the good things. It gives me even more of an incentive to save this world so many people have overlooked.

    Yay first to comment =)

I really like your post Danielle! I agree that it has been pretty gloomy thinking about all the bad stuff happening and the video helped me realize that we still have some places left to save and keep beautiful.

The scenes in the video were amazing i especially like the part with all the sea creatures. It is nice to know that there are still places that are full of life in the sea despite the pollution and many other factors.

Danielle i think it was pretty neat how you got us to back up from the concept that we are all going to die and the world is going to die off. Instead you really got us to look at the beautiful things in our everyday life and the things we don’t see very often, but even if we can’t see them that dos not mean that they don’t need our help. I think we need to stop being depresed about what is happening t the world right know but actually get up and do something about it so maybe our next generation wont have to worry and still be around for their next generation.

  5. Maryclaire Says:

I thought that the video had some really pretty scenery in it. WIth Rachel Carson’s phrase i agree with what she had to say, however, I think that a lot of people in the world are always running around and their lives are too “busy” to just stop and look around. If people could realize how amazing the world really is, we wouldn’t want to keep destroying it.

  6. Rachel P Says:

I really like the video. I especially liked the penguins at the end and the part with the shark jumping out of the water. That was really cool! I think Rachel Carson’s phrase is very true. If we focus more on conserving all of the beautiful things we still have on our Earth, and less on how we’re so terrible and we’re destorying all living things, then we won’t notice all the bad things that we have done. Many people don’t so that, including me. I focus on how many trees people are cutting down and how so many species are becoming extinct instead of how beautiful God made our Earth. Awsome post Danielle!

I thought that this was a great post Daniel. I’m interested to know where these places are. They were really great. I am getting tired of all this negativity, its like what good is there any more. This is one way to see some. thank you, and i think that what Carson meant was that if you see this beauty you will be more inclined to save all other land.

  8. Grant W. Says:

I really like Rachel Carson’s quote. If we would just slow down and look at what we might destroy by doing something, we would realize why it is so great and would, hopefully, stop what they are doing and just admire the wonders of the earth. It just seems like so many people are in a rush to get things done and don’t think of the effects of their actions.
(p.s. I am, as usual, unable to watch the video.)

  9. Caroline Says:

I thought that the video was amazing. All the animals and sites that they showed were really neat. I thought that it was really cute when the monkeys walked through the water and were doing the thing with their hands. I have to completely agree with Rachel Carson’s quote. I think that the more we focus on the beauty of our Earth, we wont want to cut down a forest for a neighborhood or something like that. I think her quote is exactly correct.

  10. Emily R Says:

I like the optimism of your post! There is still alot to save…all the more reason for us to save it. I think Rachel Carson’s quote is true. If we look at all of the great aspects about the world, we will have so much more motivation to preserve it. Great post, Danielle! : )

I like the optimism of your post! The video was awesome. I think Rachel Carson’s quote is very true. If we look at all the good aspects of the world, we will be so much more motivated to preserve it. Great post, Danielle! :)

  12. ali Says:

That was really inspiring and uplifting danielle. Thankyou for making that post. With all of the bad aspects in our environment lately we almost stop and forget how pretty it is in the first place and how we should be treasuring it and why we should be treasuring it. The quote is ingenious becuase it shouldn’t feel like a “chore” to want to do good for the environment people should want to help and this is a perfect way to show how we should care.

  13. codie Says:

Ms. Carsons phrase means that if we just concentrate on the good in life the bad wont seem so bad after all and it’ll make it easier to get through all the bad stuff. The video is really amazing. Seeing all those places in the world that are that beautiful makes me want to travel all over the place, just to take a look with my own eyes!

  14. amanda Says:

Wow, this video was amazing! I love seeing the beauty of nature! The world never ceases to amaze me. This post was so uplifting after all the bad things we hear. Danielle is right, there is plenty to save, and I think we can restore much of what we have destroyed. I think Rachel Carson’s quote is right, by the more we focus on the wonder and beauty of the world, we will appreciate it more and realize what we are doing is wrong. How could we destroy something that is so beautiful and amazing? Great job “Nelly.” =)

  15. Billy Says:

Rachel’s Carson phrase means we need to concentrate on the wonders of the world. We need to not focus so much on the negatives of the world. It means if you focus on the positive things you will be able to get through the bad things in life. The video was great. It showed us the great and beautiful things in life. Some examples are the waterfalls and the glaciers.

  16. Blake Says:

Thanks for something posotive on the blog danielle. That was a great video, all the undisterbed life was awsome to see. The phrase by rachel carson is very true. It is saying that if people knew all the wonderfull things that were out there they would be more motivated to help and save it.

  17. Steven T Says:

I thought the vidoe was really well made. Its a good thing to know that there is still plenty of good things left out there and not just the bad stuff everyone seems to focus on. I think that if we focus more on conserving instead of being mad about whats gone then we will be more effective in helping keep the world in good shape. Rachel Carson was exactly right in saying that focusing on good rather than bad is going to get us places. I was thinking, before i saw the quote, how that would be a great concept to focus on. After i saw the video i was sure that we can still apply that to the great parts of the world left.

  18. Graham C. Says:

Danielle this was a great post. I really enjoyed the video. This video does show how there are still places in the world that are preserved. Rachel Carlsons quote is a very good one, I think it is saying we need to continue to talk about the good things and not about destruction. The more we think about destruction the more we will notice how much is occuring around the world.

  19. Evelyn Says:

WOW!!! I LOVED that video! It shows us that we haven’t completely and totally screwed up. I loved the part with the polar bear cubs, and the flock of birds flying out of the water. It really made me think about how we are trying to destroy this BEAUTY of God, and that is just wrong. I definitely agree with the quote by Rachel Carson. If we really focus and just LOOK at all of the beauty around us, maybe we would finally understand. If every person on the earth did that every day, then I believe we wouldn’t want to destroy the world anymore. We may have ruined a lot of the world, but there are still parts that we WILL save. I love this positive post idea, awesome job Danielle!

  20. BRyant Says:

So, maybe Ms. Carson is simply providing an explanation of why we can feel relaxed when we go to the beach, or when we go to the mountains. I mean really, why else do resorts make so much money? HA! That just means that deep down on the inside, all the common, normal, resort paying guys out there, really love nature! YEAH! So that just goes to show everything’ll be fine, and we sure as heck will conserve nature! Maybe, there’s just a part of the brain that is stimulated by nature? Or maybe it’s when you go to an enviorment like that, the diffrent air stimulates the brain, or maybe the diffrent visual images. Maybe?

  21. Alex Says:

That was a great video Danielle. It showed me how beautiful our earth really and is all of the animals that inhabit it. I am glad to know that there is still hope and we can still do things to save our earth. I am in agreement with Ms. Carson’s quote, because it has a lot of truth in it. If we payed attention to the good things on this earth and stopped talking about how bad everything was, people would see why we need to save it. That video showed me that I don’t want to see that change. This is why I need to do something, so places like that will still exist later on.

  22. anna Says:

rachel carsons comment was very true. if we could see how amazing the world is where we have not interfered then we will not want to destroy or interfere anymore. that movie made me want to watch lion king.

  23. Katie O. Says:

Wow, AWESOME BLOG Danielle. I absolutely loved the video, and I agree completely with Rachel Carson. Have you ever heard the phrase, “Stop and smell the roses”? Lately it seems that all we talk about is what a terrible state the world is in, but it’s not destroyed yet. When we take a step back and admire the world, it makes us (well, me) appreciate the world God made for us.
It’s not a crime to take a break from all the craziness of our everyday live and look around.

Sir John Lubbock said, “Rest is not idleness, and to lie sometimes on the grass under trees on a summer’s day, listening to the murmur of the water, or watching the clouds float across the sky, is by no means a waste of time.” (http://www.wilderness.org/Library/Documents/Beauty_Quotes.cfm)

  24. ali Says:

Bryant im kind of confused by your comment haha. Although the reasons for resorts most times ARE because of the beautiful nature and scenery, we have alot of pretty scenery around us too to help us ” have less tast for destruction” as in rachel carson’s comment

  25. jake Says:

Danielle, unfortunately i couldn’t load the video, but i did enjoy the quote. What i think she was trying to say was that we don’t have anything good to compare all of the bad of the world with. But, if we look out there and find it, we’ll want to stop destroying, and start creating!

  26. Hank Says:

WOW I never even realizes how much we have talked about the deppresing things in our world and how little we talk about good things! Its nice to finally hear something positive! The video had some amazing scenery and i completely agree with the Carson lady! Great job Danielle

  27. Richie Says:

I thought this video was an amazing example of nature at its finest! Not only does it show us that we havn’t completely destroyed everything yet, but it also shows us how amazing all of nature is and why we should strive to save it. I think if more people in the world saw videos like this and really understood how amazing nature can be, they would try harder to save it.

  28. sebastiana Says:

After watching this video which was amazing Danielle. Nature is a beautiful thing and if you dont stop to take a look at it out of our busy lives than we wont enjoy it. I love how animals interact with each other and how they all work together to be on this earth. I espcecially love how animals cooperate with each other its interesting I guess we can learn a thing or two from animals. If people understood the beauty of nature than people would try and save it.

  29. Grant T Says:

Oh yeah! One more thing. The Rachel Carson quote really meant a lot to me deep down. It really touched my heart in the fact that if we take some time to explore the beauty of the world that God has graciously bestowed upon us, we will no longer have the urge to destroy it. Then we will realize that the Earth is the most precious thing we have been given and that it is our right to dwell on it freely, but with that comes a responsibility: preserving it!

  30. Billy Says:

Bryant do you really believe that all resort paying guys love nature. Ther are plenty of resort paying guys that dont like nature. If they loved nature so much they should camp out in the wilderness instead of in a five star hotel. Dont get me wrong Bryant i love resorts and nature. i just dont know if all reort paing guys love nature. Bryant when you said that everything we be fine i agree with you there because we are going to change but if we dont nature wont be conserved.

  31. Steph Says:

That video was great! I love that you are thinking positive about our situation. You’re right, there are plenty of things to save. I love the part of the video that had the polar bears! the little baby ones are so adorable. It made me a little sad because I know that we are slowly killing our planet by emitting so much carbon dioxide into the atmosphere. I can only hope that polar bears will be able to adapt to a warmer climate.
The post made me think of an experiment my youth group did once. We were actually testing something about the human brain, but I think it still relates to this. we were told to think of nothing but negative thoughts for five minutes. after the time was up, we were told to draw a picture of the first thing that came to our minds. most of the pictures turned out negative. then we were told to think of nothing but positive thoughts for five minutes. the pictures that people drew after that were mostly positive and nice.

  32. sarah Says:

Wow!!! That is amazing. I saw so many cool things in this video. I love how it gives hope for tomorrow. I think I’ll watch it tomaorrow too. Thanks for posting this video. I loved being able to see all the beautiful things of nature. Also how great nature is. I wish people with the big resorts and all could be as moved as we are. I wonder what they are doing about saving the planet and endangered animals and such.

  33. Lacey Says:

Danielle, this was a great post! It was really positive and encouraging! You are right it does seem like their are a lot of depressing things going on iin the world right now, like the drought and the whole global warming issue! It is nice to see that there is still some beauty left on the earth! :) I alos love Rachel Carson’s quote! I think that it really has some meaning to it! I agree that if we focused more on the beauty, then we will not want to ruin it!

  34. Brantley Says:

I thought the video was breathtaking! I think Rachel Carson’s quote is very true! Watching this video and seeing Earth’s beauty makes me want to do more to help save it! My favorite part of the video is when the bear is sticking his head out of the snow :]
