Welcome to the blog 2009-10 9th grade biology students!

Your homework assignment is to write a comment to this post with one observation you made about the biology classroom.  Include an inference you made about that observation.

To leave a comment, scroll down to where it says Leave a Reply underneath this post.  Fill in the required boxes.  Leave the website box blank.  Only use your FIRST NAME!

After you click submit, you should see your comment with the words your comment is awaiting moderation.  If you see that, you’re all done!  If you don’t, go back and try again.

    the blue paper was peeling-observation
Inference-the box has been used in an activity before

  • Jesse

I have noticed several things about our classroom. One of the examples being, the box with 6 numbers. Another observation being the tank on the right side (your left) filled with all green,

  • Bobby

i observed that the biology classroom is going to be very hands on with lots of labs and activitys, like the boxes and the possible disection….so i inferred its going to be lots of fun

  • Joseph

It was interesting to find out that Ms. Baker has her own website and blogs on it. I noticed that there were plastic dragonflies hanging from the ceiling and I love biology stickers on the locker in the classroom. I concluded that Ms. Baker likes animals and is in love with her job, teaching our class biology.

One observation i made in biology class is the the consrution paper on the box is blue. One inference i made in biology class is the number on the bottom of the box is two because there’s 6 sides on a box and there was numbers one, three, four, five and six on the box. Number 2 was missing.

  • Lionel

The Observation i made was that Ms. Baker had assigned seats posted before she met us.
This is usually because it helps her remember everyone’s name.

  • Carl

I noticed that there is two different types of soil in a tank where the turtles used to be. My inference is that the turtles no longer live there and something that lives on sand is now the resident of that tank.

  • geoffrey

I realized that the odd numbers on the box are always opposite the even numbers on the box. This ould mean that the bottom number has to be even because the number on top is odd

  • Mike S

one of my observations was that there was numbers on the cubes sides and that that numbers went from 1-6 with 2 missingg. so with that information i concluded tht the number on the bottom had to be 2.

  • Adam

I observed that Ms. Baker engages her students in a indepth discussion today about the box. My inference is that Ms. Baker is a very good teacher and that we the students will have fun in science class this year!

  • Alec

Observation – I observed that Ms. Baker is very serious when it comes to students being tardy in her classroom
Inference – Ms. Baker wants us to be on time to her class so we can enjoy biology class to the fullest extent

  • Vincent

I notice the smartboard was a lot. It was used for the homework, seat assignments and to show this website. I think it will be used more and will make the class more interactive.

  • Marielle

There are 5 visible numbers on the box (1,3,4,5,6)is an observation
An inferrence is that there is another number on the bottom that is not visible

  • phoenixia

I observed that we had a skeleton in our classroom; one inference I could make is that we would learn about the human body.

  • Michael

One thing I noticed about your class is that you had alot of fossils and insects around the class. I concluded that you have liked biology for a long time.

  • Sam

I noticed that there were cockroaches in the tank which made me think that the course is going to have many hands on activities using live creatures.

  • Guy

One observation imade was that there was a lot of tanks filled plant life and mabey animal life. Infer that we will learn about what is in the tanks shortly.

  • Anna

One observation that I made in Biology Class was the Box that was covered in Blue Construction Paper, and had numbers on it. My observations were that the numbers were single digit numbers, they were written with black marker, the box has 6 sides, and the numbers written on the box were 1, 3, 4, 5, and 6. My Inference was that the number on the bottom had to be 2. When the numbers opposite each other on the box were added together the Sum was 7. The number opposite the bottom of the box was 5 therefore the number must be 2.

  • Amy

An observation I made in biology class today was that the desks were spread out with two or three people sitting at each desk. An inference is that they were arranged that way for labs and assigned seating.

  • Justin

One observation i made about the biology class room was that you placed the madagascar hissing cockaroaches in the tank. therefore i infer that we will learn about them in thenear future.

  • Rohit

Observation- You like cockroaches because you had them in your classroom.
Inference- You like to experiment with different types of animals.

  • Erin

An observation that I made in science today is that there are apparently many rules for our safety while doing potentially dangerous labs if we dont follow them. The inference I made from my obsevation is that the labs we will be doing must be really fun.

  • deanna

observation- we are going to be doing a lot of observations on boxes like today.

inference- we are going to have fun.

  • Jong

I infer that there are several things in the box because it made cracking sounds as you lifted it up. I infer also that the blue box will be used tommorow, and finally that the number 2 will be in the bottom of the box because of the patterns we saw during class.

  • victor

observation_i noticed that there were cockaroches in the class, and u seemed to have been exited about them

infer_we will be learning about them in clesses to come….eeewwwww

  • charlot

Bilogy class is very interesting this year. I thought the box observation was cool and kept you thinking about the answer. when you lifted the box it sounded like things moved inside of it. and that thjere was no construction paper on the bottom of the box. i still think that the answer will be the number two

  • Alex

I observed that the box had five visible sides, and infered that it had a sixth side. Because the five sides we saw had blue paper and a single digit number in black marker, we can infer that the bottom side has the same.

  • christian

observation-there was a box with the numbers 1,3,4,5 and 6

infrence-i predicted there was going to be a two on the bottom of the box because it was the only number missing
